VOICE OF A NATION
![]()
In the spring of 2009, I completed this short experiment with the help of fellow artist Joe Kaiser. Voice of a Nation consits of a series of interviews in which the subjects were recorded saying their names and their supposed plans for the following day. The footage was then juxtaposed together, each time the sentence is spoken another voice/face is added, until there is only an unintelligible blur.
The identity of each participant is not defined by their claims, but rather the sum of such mundane plans is a universal statement. If there was a "voice of a nation", what would it say? The video serves as a documentation of a point in time, a survey of additude, and an ambiguous example of forced socialism.
